[Have a weary-looking Cybil with a Zubat curled up, sleeping, on her shoulder. She looks...slightly miffed but she's keeping her cool and taking a breather in a Pokemon Center.]

Of course the weather starts getting better as soon as I get here. Don't think I want to be caught in the middle of traveling in a storm like that ever again.

I should have payed attention to the weather more carefully before heading out...I'm usually more forward-thinking than this...

[She rubs the back of her neck and shakes her head.]

So, for curiosity's sake [and she motions to the Zubat snoozing on her shoulder] how common are these bats? I caught this one before I headed out, but took shelter in a local cave and, even though I wasn't able to see much, I did catch glimpses of them every five seconds. I wish I was exaggerating.

[Sloppily privated to Heather]

Well, I've made it to Violet City. How'd you fare through the storm?
foolishwren: as i was, you shall be (UGHGHGHGH)

[Equally sloppily privated] god I still need to stick up a travel log

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[This face. This face is the answer to that question.]

[Equally sloppily privated] WHICH I WILL HAPPILY CREEP ON? 8D

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[...lol you get a sympathetic smile, Heather.]

Not good for you either, huh?
foolishwren: kitchen junk drawer emptied onto a trampoline (current state of mind:)

[Equally sloppily privated] XD IT WILL BE FULL OF HOPEFULLY-ENTERTAINING FAIL SO GO FOR IT!

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's really hard to ride on a pile of moving rocks that are also freezing over in the sleet.

Just... you know. For the record.

[sloppily privated] I LOVE READING THAT SHIT. GAWD I'M SUCH A CREEPER.

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
...moving rocks?

[sorry kid, you're going to have to elaborate for a poor, out-of-the-loop Cybil.]
foolishwren: like what if you tried to sue obama and you just got a letter back saying "no" and he came to your house and did the worm (can you even sue the president)

[sloppily privated] HAHAH it's okay! WE LIVE TO ENTERTAIN!

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeeeah, uh-- we rode my friend's rock... snake thing. It's like this giant serpent made of boulders. ... Pretty cool, actually.

[Solid the Onix was a very reliable ride under normal circumstances-- but he couldn't help that ice was what happened when rocks got sleeted on.]

[sloppily privated]

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. Come to think of it, I think I ran into a Pokemon made out of boulders when I was waiting the storm out in that cave. But it didn't look like a snake.

[Oh silly Geodudes. But hey, at least Cybil knows that...creatures made out of rock are possible. Why is everything so weird here...]

It sounds pretty...unique. Just...maybe both of us should've picked a better time to travel. But winters are always unpredictable with weather.
foolishwren: are waiting to GOOF OFF with you (SILLY GIRLS in YOUR AREA)

[sloppily privated]

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've never seen any wild ones-- [Because she'd avoided caves like the plague.]-- but I think that's where Snake got his. ... Er, Snake would be one of the friends I was traveling with. [Between him and Phoenix, the trio had made a motley crew. A spunky teenage girl, a grumbly old man, and a lawyer. It sounded like the punchline to a joke.]

Kiiinda thinkin' that myself, but... shoulda coulda woulda.

We're almost to the city now. Would've been there quicker, but... we couldn't keep going through the thick of the storm the whole time.

[sloppily privated]

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Harry's little girl is friends with some guy named Snake. All Cybil can think about is some teenage punk with like, big hair, piercings all over the place and tattoos because. Yeah.]

Well, so long as you aren't traveling alone.

[BUT YOU GET A QUESTIONING LOOK HEATHER.]

Yeah, it's a little too late for that. Besides, considering where we live, I should be used to unpredictable winter weather. Next time I'll just pay closer attention to the weather, but honestly, I can't wait for everything to warm up, though spring's equally as questionable.

[a shake of the head and a smirk.]

Don't blame you. At least the weather's looking up now, and I plan on staying in Violet for awhile.
foolishwren: and every scar I have makes me who I am. (We were put here on earth to feel joy)

[sloppily privated]

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[HAVE FUN WITH THOSE MENTAL IMAGES, CYBIL, BECAUSE HEATHER'S NOT GOING TO ELABORATE. She may or may not feel better when she later finds out that Snake is some old wrinkly dude with an epic grandpa 'stache.]

[For now, Heather's just raising a brow at the questioning look-- she's been here so long that she's actually sort of forgotten that most people would find some of the names that crop up here really weird.]

Yeeeeah, as I've told a lot of the people around here who like... freak at two inches of snow, I'm totally used to this kind of weather, but... I guess I underestimated what it'd be like to hike through it.

Back home, if I had to go somewhere during a snowstorm, I'd hop on the subway.

[But hey, at least there's clear skies overhead-- criss-crossed by branches in Heather's case. She's obviously filming while still on the road.]

I'm not... sure how long I'll be staying, but... I'm not in any hurry to head back out to the hills after that.

[sloppily privated]

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Heather what are you and why do you hang out with these people.]

I'm not used to going on foot in this weather myself. I still can't believe I somehow made it through all of that cold with bare minimum supplies.

[Rinty helped her out a lot though. She'd probably be half frozen to death by now had it not been for a fire Pokemon making heat more accessible.

...her Zubat is useless, unfortunately.
]

Well, so long as we have that coffee. I'm looking forward to catching up on what I've missed. Let me know when you've arrived.
foolishwren: what doesn't kill you gives you a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms and a really dark sense of humor (well you know what they say...)

[sloppily privated] XD Speaking of, how do you wanna do their meeting? Prose log, action or?

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wait till Cybil finds out Heather's ALSO friends with the old guy's brother, a perpetually-shirtless muscular guy with Fabio hair and a tendency to pontificate from on top of tall objects. Like his gigantic sea monster.]

Jeez, you didn't stock up before you left Cherrygrove? [If Cybil weren't obviously alive and well in front of her, Heather might have been worried.]

Between us, my friends and I were able to stay warm pretty well... Snake's really resourceful, he's like... lived in the wilderness and stuff before or something. [Good job, Heather, now Cybil will think you're friends with a punk teenager with piercings and tattoos who also lives in the woods.]

HAH, don't worry, you can't get rid of me that easily!

I think we'll be there later today. I'll probably crash for awhile, but after that, I should be good!

[sloppily privated] ffffff. well, prose log might be nice if you don't mind!

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[ooc : I can put one up sometime tomorrow or later tonight if you'd like~ I miiight be heading out soon.]

[........oooh boy. Y'know, if she didn't feel responsible to help finding you back home...just. Heather, you make such eclectic friends.]

Just on food, really. I don't exactly have money to spare at the moment.

[OH MAN HEATHER she's definitely going to keep a closer eye on you once she finally meets you in person.]

Well that's...good to hear. At least you're traveling with people who sound like they know what they're doing.

[back in Silent Hill it was very easy to at least lose you. But at least now you aren't running around and floating away.]

Sounds good. I can really use some real food right about now. I never really expected to live off trail mix.
foolishwren: like what if you tried to sue obama and you just got a letter back saying "no" and he came to your house and did the worm (can you even sue the president)

[sloppily privated] Prose sounds great to me!

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ooc: That sounds great! I'll definitely be around! Later tonight or tomorrow both sound fine.]

[She has the best of tastes in bros. Obviously.]

I guess the pickings are pretty slim when it comes to jobs in Cherrygrove... I worked at the Center there for a few days but I don't recall it paying out too well then, either.

[And that's... probably a good idea, Cybil, given Heather's knack for getting in trouble. Ironically, the police department in Violet City will NOT be happy to see her back in town again.]

Yeah, they've got good heads on their shoulders when it comes to this stuff. ... Well, Snake does, anyway... I'm pretty sure Phoenix would get eaten by nature or fall into a ditch and die or something if I didn't keep an eye on him, so uh... one outta two, I guess!

[Don't be so sure, Cyb, Heather might not do the floating thing anymore but she makes up for it by being really, really good at running. Fortunately, she's not interested in running away from her father's pal.]

You know, after that first multiple-day hike from New Bark to Cherrygrove, I literally never wanted to taste trail mix again in my life. To this day, I STILL haven't bought any.

[Of course, she could afford to buy other stuff now-- sounded like Cybil wasn't that fortunate yet.]

[ACTION for Heather's side of the gear]

[identity profile] cheapblusuits.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[...sneeze. Also, the most disapproving look ever as he listens in over the girl's shoulder.]

Gee, thanks, Heather.
foolishwren: what doesn't kill you gives you a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms and a really dark sense of humor (well you know what they say...)

[Action but it's visible to Cybil anyway]

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-12 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
No problem, buddy.

[Reaching over her shoulder to smush his face with the flat of her palm because that's what he gets for eavesdropping. Get outta the frame, lawyer-man.]

[ooc: l-lol I just realized Heather never told Cybil about her false name. THAT'LL BE FUN TO EXPLAIN.]

[private video that's...being eavesdropped on.]

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
[She was about to respond when an...unfamiliar name catches her attention.

Heather?

...
]

Did he just call you Heather?

[HAVE ANOTHER SKEPTICAL LOOK. you had her convinced that you were Cheryl but...now she's...well yeah, skeptical. Sorry, this cop's a cynic.]
foolishwren: are waiting to GOOF OFF with you (SILLY GIRLS in YOUR AREA)

[private video -- travelmates are pesky like that.]

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-13 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Er-- yeeeah, actually-- nickname. It's-- I'll explain when I get there. It has to do with Dad.

[S-sort of.]

[eavesdropping action! -- THAT THEY ARE. :D b]

[identity profile] cheapblusuits.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Having been thoroughly shoved out of the camera, but he's still in listening-range of their conversation -- and he has to raise an eyebrow at this.]

A...nickname?

[When she says it has something to do with her dad, though, something clicks -- so he just gives Heather a "you could have told me sooner" look and doesn't add anything else.]

[private video]

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
[you are being side-eyed so hard right now Heather. Cheryl. whoever you are.

But she's kind of deducing it has something to do with that whackjob, druggie cult.
]

Interesting choice of nickname. But I guess I can wait until then for an explanation.

[a pause, and she carefully removes the Zubat from her shoulder as it's starting to twitch and whack her in the face with a wing.]

Speaking of, where are we meeting up when you're done and rested? This place is a whole lot larger than the last town.
foolishwren: like what if you tried to sue obama and you just got a letter back saying "no" and he came to your house and did the worm (can you even sue the president)

[private video]

[personal profile] foolishwren 2011-02-13 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeee-ikes. Heather's getting a few panicky flutterings in her chest that are telling her she PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THIS SOONER-- though she hadn't thought it'd come up before they actually met.]

Yeah, it was... pretty weird to get used to at first. [She'll... wait to go into more detail than that, but she's hoping that at least that'll suggest there's more to it than just 'Oh hi I have a completely different name than I said I did!']

Okay, let's see... it's been awhile since I've been here, but if I remember correctly, there should be a little coffee shop on the corner, sorta by the little convenience store-- or Mart or whatever they call 'em. It's kinda like Starbucks, but not? Similar logo, I mean.

[identity profile] philanthrotaku.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Zubat? Yeah, they're pretty common. You'll find them in most caves, especially at night.

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Zubat...so that's what they're called?

[she gives her Zubat such a look.]

Guess that means I'll be avoiding caves, then. I don't exactly mind them, but they do get needlessly repetitive.

[identity profile] philanthrotaku.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of people get really tired of them. It's hard to walk more than a few steps in a cave without finding one.

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I can believe that.

I mean, we are disrupting their habitat in a way, so it kind of feels wrong getting annoyed with them and having my Pokemon fight them off. But some of them are relentless and won't let me ignore them, so I guess it's necessary procedure...

[blah blah blah slight sensible cop logic.]

[identity profile] philanthrotaku.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I agree with you. It's really only fair they'd defend their territory. But at the same time, if they're going to attack we might not have a choice but to defend ourselves.

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess that's why we have these Pokemon in the first place. I'm still not exactly thrilled by the idea of using these guys for sport like the rest of the...enthusiasts and collectors I've bumped into. I caught Blue here [because she's so creative with naming her Pokemon] on accident.

[identity profile] philanthrotaku.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't really want to fight at first, either. I still don't--but it seems more or less necessary here. Besides, most of mine seem to have fun with it.

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There's just something that feels dirty about making animals fight. I've been assured that they don't mind it but...still, it's something to get used to. But, I guess, when in Rome...

[her voice trails off. she didn't have any problems when it came to shooting monsters, after all, she is a cop. but these animals have proven to be relatively harmless despite their "powers".]

I'm Cybil Bennett. I don't believe we've talked prior to this.

[identity profile] cheapblusuits.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Here is a Phoenix.

Here is a Phoenix who looks freezing, disgruntled, and mildly traumatized.]

You can say that again. T-That was the worst...

[He sneezes, and moves on to address Cybil's other question.] Er...I-I'm not too sure, but I think they're very common in the caves, and...places like that.
Edited 2011-02-12 21:09 (UTC)

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
You were traveling too?

Guess the random sunshine last weekend gave a lot of people a false impression.

[oh man this guy sounds...pretty sick. GUESS SHE'S LUCKY SHE DIDN'T CATCH ANYTHING.]

So I've been told. I only thought they came out at night, but they were all over the place in that cave I waited in. But, I guess I should've known...bats back home live in caves, so I shouldn't be surprised these things do too.

[identity profile] cheapblusuits.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, uh...you know Heather, right? I was one of the ones who traveled with her. [He grins, a bit.] She wanted to meet up with you, right, Officer Bennett?

[aaaand another sneeze.] Did you come from Cherrygrove? Then you must have been in Dark Cave...yeah, there's plenty of Zubats in there, not to mention those...giant, floating rocks...

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
[a nod.]

So she's mentioned me to you then. I don't think I caught your name last time we spoke.

[she gives him time to sneeze and explain, and...yeah, she feels sorry for you.]

Geodudes, right? These creatures have the oddest names.

[identity profile] cheapblusuits.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods as well!] A bit. You were a friend of her father's, right?

Oh, uh -- [He would hold out a hand, but...lol yeah, video call, Phoenix. He rubs the back of his neck instead.] Phoenix Wright, attorney at law. It's nice to meet you, Officer. [Not that he hasn't met you already, but...YEAH.

Sniffle sniff. Why does he have to attract colds like a goddamn magnet...]
They, do, huh...whoever named them must have had one weird sense of humor.

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that.

[...more like an acquaintance, but she has no qualms being considered a friend.]

Nice to meet another person of the law. That's a...very suitable name you have there, Mr. Wright. [since he's calling her Officer, might as well keep it formal for now.]

They must've. But so far, they...fit.

[Geodude did look like a guy made out of rocks, Houndours are...well...dour-looking hounds. And Zubats are. Bats.]

[identity profile] cheapblusuits.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
...w-well, either way. She seemed excited to get the chance to meet you.

[Oh, geez, here we go with the name...he chuckles a bit, in the kind of way that shows that he's used to it.] H-Ha, ha, well...if it helps me get clients, I really can't complain.

You have to wonder, though...does this mean that whoever named these creatures knew about the animals back on our world?

...or maybe it's the other way around?

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a decently long pause as she considers this, and then shakes her head.]

It must be sheer coincidence. Though...the idea of someone around here knowing about the animals in our world isn't as far fetched as the other way around, considering something is bringing us over here.

[identity profile] cheapblusuits.livejournal.com 2011-02-24 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess that's true... [He seems a bit uncomfortable with that fact.] Either way, it just seems a bit...odd, really.

[identity profile] exp-loraline.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[The blue-haired eleven-year-old on your screen is holding a dirtied notebook in her hands, inspecting it closely. Who keeps a personal travel log? THIS EXPLORER. Looks like she's eager to show off her knowledge!]

I saw lots of them flying around Routes... 30 and 31, and that cave you mentioned-- someone told me it's called Dark Cave. Totally original name. [She grins.] So yeah, there's lots of 'em around... But trust me, they evolve into something really cool! [And something with eyes, thank Arceus.]

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
For a place that has...uniquely named creatures, you'd expect more creativity when it comes to naming caves.

[DESPITE THE BLUE HAIR kids these days... Cybil is endeared by said knowledgeable explorer.]

It sounds like you know your stuff. You keeping notes of it?

[identity profile] exp-loraline.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was expecting something a bit more... spooky, too. [A shrug.

And she nods, beaming with pride. She waves the notebook a little-- it's full of one-liners labeled with checkmarks and occasional doodles of spiders and furry monsters.]
Yup. Someone's got to keep an explorer's log, after all! [AND SHE IS CLEARLY THE BEST CHOICE.]

[identity profile] dontshootmebro.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of creepy places don't exactly have the names to fit them, either.

[...though Silent Hill's a damn creepy name to begin with, but sound relatively peaceful when you don't know about all the crap that goes on behind the scenes.

She does enjoy this girl's spunk, though she's...kind of concerned about the lack of parents.
]

Do you do that a lot back home? You seem very well-prepared for all this exploration.

[identity profile] exp-loraline.livejournal.com 2011-02-15 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
... That's true. [Seriously, the Pink Palace? Just a teeny tiny bit creepy-- 'specially with the nightmare world just behind the complex's wallpaper.

She nods automatically to the question, dropping the notebook into her lap.]

Well, I try to... Not much interesting to see around the Pink Palace though. [Don't get her wrong, the size of the place and the colorful neighbors were coo', but the apartment itself was painfully boring.

She pauses, before adding, almost warily:]
Mom and Dad work a lot, so they don't really mind either. They don't like me walking in the mud too much, though. Gets the rugs dirty-- [She wiggles her fingers mockingly.] --or something...
[... She misses them. She almost wants to hear the berating she'd get from them in response to the things she'd done in Johto.]
