2 | video [open action to folks in Cherrygrove]

[pretend this was posted at like, 12 noon today. Cybil's outside the Mart in Cherrygrove, sitting on a bench. despite the shitty temperatures, she just wants to get out for a little bit, though she looks kind of cold. she's letting her Pokemon stretch his legs.]

It looks like the weather's still bad, so it might be a few more days until I hit the road. But it feels kind of pointless going from town to town without any real agenda...unless we have to fight those Gym Leaders I keep hearing about.

Anyone know how the law enforcement works around here, and if there's any way I could be a part of it? I'm a cop back home, a damn good one, and it would kind of be nice having some form of income while helping others at the same time. It'll give me more of a purpose around here, if I am forced to stay here for however long.

[a pause, and she pats her knee.]

C'mere Rinty.

[her Houndour jumps up and takes a seat next to her. LOOKS LIKE CYBIL LEARNED TO EMBRACE HER HELLISH MUTT PARTNER. he sniffs the camera and rests his head in her lap. definitely a quiet-natured one. and less coldness on Cybil's part thanks to AWWWUH YEAH WARM FIRE TYPE~]

You know, like Rin Tin Tin? Cheesy as hell, I know. But if I'm stuck with him, I might as well try to make nice and give him a name. He's definitely come in handy with all this cold weather, it's like owning a portable heater.

Last time I checked, they weren't hiring. I would have liked to get a job akin to my original one as well, but as things stand, it doesn't appear to be a possibility.

[He was a bit irked at first, but as long as he can get some kind of job to occupy his mind...]

It could be a good thing. The law enforcement here isn't held in high regard by most of us outsiders.

I guess it makes sense. I mean, it seems like nobody here has any idea as to how we got here, and there are no backgrounds for them to check up on.

[she rubs the back of her neck.]

It's going to be weird not being a cop.

Not to mention that the system could and appears to be entirely different.

[He notices the gesture, smiling slightly.]

I completely sympathise.

Well...is the system at least fair?

[she smiles back]

Maybe they'll end up warming up to us, and at least consider it. I'm not desperate, but I'd rather work for the cops than pick up some side job cleaning shops.

By the standards here? Most likely. By ours, not really. It looks like the only punishment you can get is some kind of manual labour. I'm not even sure they have prisons.

[He shakes his head at this, just a little.]

I know what you mean. All things considered, I'm still not sure I would work with the law enforcement here if the chance would ever be presented to me.

No prisons? Then what do they do about the criminals? You can't expect me to believe this is some Utopian society where little to no crime happens.

[she crosses her arms, and also shakes her head.]

With all of what I've been hearing, I'm kind of starting to get that impression, too.

I don't believe in utopias. But in all fairness, it's possible - the only crime I've witnessed or heard of has been committed by outsiders.

[Just an observation.]
